Dear Reader:

We hear a lot these days about Low T on television commercials. Seems the list of manufacturers touting their products that they purport will raise testosterone levels is never ending. Almost overnight these products have overtaken the airwaves.

But who among us really understands what they are telling us…selling us?

Here’s a brief tutorial.

What Is Testosterone?

Testosterone is a steroid hormone naturally produced in the body. Among other things, it's responsible for the maintenance of secondary sex characteristics, like growth of body hair and muscle mass.

Signs and Symptoms of Low Testosterone (Low T)

Hypogonadism is a condition in which a man has low T and may experience symptoms, including:
•    Decreased sexual desire (libido)
•    Erectile dysfunction
•    Fatigue and loss of energy
•    Depressed mood
•    Loss of body hair (decreased need to shave)
•    Decrease in strength
•    Osteoporosis (decreased bone density)

Only your doctor can determine if you have low T and if treatment may be appropriate for you. A simple blood test can be used to determine if you have low T.

Talk to your doctor if you experience any of the symptoms above.
