Dear Reader:

Better Health, Longer Lives

It’s refreshing to see the interest people are showing in their health these days. That hasn’t always been the case. It’s especially gratifying to see men take command of their health and wellbeing in ways that hadn’t been seen before now.

Civic groups, churches and more and more we’re seeing government take a leading role in outreach efforts to improve health standards in communities throughout the nation. Insurance companies are pushing people to be proactive when it comes to their health. Theirs may be more a matter of economics, but whatever it takes to make the public more cognizant of the need to develop healthier lifestyles is a good thing.

We’re seeing groups hold health fairs almost weekly in our area. Churches are establishing health ministries; and when it comes to young people, schools are doing a better job of serving foods that are good for kids so they are getting a head start on healthy eating. Many kids would eat few meals of nutritional value if it weren’t for school feeding programs. So it is critical that these programs remain in place to kick start our children on proper dieting.

I take great pride in what we’ve been able to do to raise awareness through Brain Brawn & Body. Not to toot our own horn but we’re on the cutting edge of the new push for health care information. We threw our rock in the lake that began the ripple that has now become a huge wave and we’re glad to be riding it!

Let us hope that people will continue to show interest in health and wellness. Why wouldn’t they? Living healthy could mean living longer. And isn’t that what we really want?
